Speaking in Verona on Friday President Sergio Mattarella said that Italy is asking the whole EU to make a commitment on migrants.
President said “all opportunities, all fora, all instruments, all documents that calls for the common responsibility of all the States and the international community, and avoids imagining that it may weigh on some countries alone, is precious”.
He also underlined that “Italy has often been left on its own” on the immigration front and “has asked and is asking with governments of various orientations that the European Union assume in a concrete manner in its continental dimension this phenomenon, which must not be ignored but addressed”.
